    Daynia Ballot, Chair

    Professor Ballot qualified and specialized at Wits, with a sub-specialty in neonatology. She works in both the neonatal unit and paediatric ICU at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

    Keith Bolton, ex officio

    Professor Bolton qualified at Wits and is Head of the Department of Paediatrics, Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital. He is interested in neonatology and ethics.

    Peter Cooper, ex officio

    Professor Cooper serves as Academic Head of the Department of Paediatrics of the University of the Witwatersrand and Clinical Head of the Department at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. His main clinical interest is neonatology and he serves on several national and international bodies involved in child health.

    Elizabeth Ho

    Elizabeth is Senior Specialist in the Department of Paediatrics at Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital. She works in the neonatal unit, the paediatric intensive care unity, and the neurodevelopmental clinic. Elizabeth both qualified and specialized at Wits.

    Lorna Jacklin, Treasurer

    Professor Jacklin is Principal Consultant Paediatrician and Neurodevelopmental Specialist, Head of the Neurodevelopmental Clinic, and Medical Head of the Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children and the Clinic for Visually Impaired Children. She received her undergraduate training at Wits and post-graduate training at both Pretoria University and Wits.

    Mantoa Mokhachane

    Mantoa qualified as a specialist at Wits. She works in the Kangaroo Mother Care and neonatal units of Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. She is also involved in Bioethics.

    Preggie Nair

    Preggie is affiliated with Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, working in the general paediatric wards.

    John Pettifor, ex officio

    Professor Pettifor is Head of the Department of Paediatrics at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and director of the MRC Mineral Metabolism Research Unit.

    Jeanine Rademeyer, Secretary

    Jeanine is a Senior Specialist in the Department of Paediatrics at Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital, Unit Consultant in the General Ward, and Head of the neurodevelopmental unit and the childhood epilepsy clinic. She received her medical training at Wits.

    Kebashni Thandrayen

    Kebashni qualified and specialized at Wits. She works at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital as a specialist in the Mineral Metabolism Research Unit, focusing primarily on rickets and metabolic bone diseases. She is also the chief organizer of the annual Baragwanath Children’s Christmas party.

    Reenu Thomas

    Reenu qualified at the University of the Transkei, Eastern Cape. She holds a Diploma in Child Health and specialized in paediatrics at Wits. She is currently a consultant Paediatrician in the Neonatal Unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

    Sheeba Varughese, Vice Chair

    Sheeba qualified at the University of Berin, Nigeria, and specialized as a paediatrician at Wits. She is currently working in the general paediatric unit and the HIV clinic at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
